Lillian Platten, MA
My name is Lillian Platten, and my pronouns are she/her/hers. I am EDGE’s Treasurer for the 2022-2023 academic year. I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio where I attended Cleveland State University. At CSU, I majored in Sociology and minored in Statistics and Law Theory. I graduated in 2020, and moved to Chicago to attend Loyola. I completed my MA thesis titled “Institutionalism, Peer Culture, and Cultural Reproduction in Active Shooter Drills” this past summer, and I am now in my first year of the Sociology Ph.D. program. My research interests are in organizational sociology, social determinants of health and the life course, socialization, and social policy. In addition to my role with EDGE, I am also the President of the Graduate Student Advisory Council, the Helen R. Weigle Fellow at Children’s Advocates for Change, and the Qualitative Research and Evaluation Intern with the National School-Based Health Alliance. I am very excited to continue working with EDGE and help to plan some very engaging and fun events!
